Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing technical input on a variety of SAGD projects working in conjunction with the project engineering teams.
  • The SAGD Project Manager is responsible for successful SAGD project executions. Projects include standalone capital projects, as well as sustaining capital projects for existing SAGD facilities.
  • Ongoing client liaison and communication throughout the project will be required. The ability to develop a rapport and a strong working relationship with the Client is critical.
  • The SAGD Project Manager will lead the communication with the EPCM discipline engineering team to ensure successful project execution. He/she will run regular project specific meetings and be the driver of the overall project.
  • The SAGD Project Manager will be accountable to lead his team of project and discipline engineers and will be ultimately responsible for success in terms of cost, quality, schedule and HSE.
  • Work towards achieving growth in the SAGD area through establishing repeat business and generation of new business.
  • Provide strong customer interface on engineering issues operating within broad guidelines. Initiative will be essential.
  • Attend design reviews on various projects and provide technical input.
  • Provide technical input on larger, more complex projects.
  • Provide mentorship with respect to engineering and design.
  • Assist the Quality Management process with respect to the systems and processes needed to provide a superior engineering product.
  • Reviewing the specifications for purchasing packaged equipment and other materials.
  • Review and revise internal specifications.
  • Verify and validate current design tools.
  • We anticipate that the successful candidate will become a Responsible Member with APEGA and affix permit stamp to various projects after technical review.

Qualifications

  • A strong knowledge of SAGD operating companies with the ability to cultivate and grow business relationships.
  • Degree in Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering coupled with a professional Designation through APEGA, coupled with a minimum of 15-20 years of engineering experience preferably in Western Canada in conventional and/or unconventional gas as well as conventional oil. SAGD experience is required.
  • Familiar with all aspects of SAGD project execution and detailed engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively with all clients, both internal and external.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent ability to coordinate and prioritize work and meet short deadlines.
  • Self-motivated. Able to work well in a team environment but able to work independently.
  • Experience with coaching and developing others would be an advantage.
