Surveyor

Key Responsibilities

• Perform various local road, highway, drainage and bridge surveys for preliminary design.
• Duties include; establish control, data pickup, construction layout, quantity pickup and calculations, manual drafting of transit notes and processing surveys via computer software.
• Must be willing to travel central and northern Alberta.
• Must be willing to work overtime and weekends.
• Supervisor the rod persons duties.
• Mentor junior surveyors.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a survey program, Civil Engineering, Civil Tech, or Geomatics discipline preferred but not mandatory. Equivalent related ability/experience will be considered.
• A minimum of 2 years experience.
• Experience in the use of survey instruments and equipment including GPS, Total Stations, and levels.
• Experience with Trimble GPS and Total Stations is an asset.
• Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of construction surveying.
• Solid understanding of Coordinate Geometry is required.
• Experience with construction surveys required for the layout of rural roads and highways is an asset.
• Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD is an asset.
• Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision.
• A willingness to travel (to serve projects from out branch offices)
• A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve.
