Our hiring process
Receipt and Applicant Pre-Screening
Applicants will receive a notification via email from a recruitment counsellor once their application has been received. Only applicants under consideration will be contacted further.
Should the applicant meet the job requirements, a recruitment counsellor will conduct a pre-screening interview by telephone to determine if the applicant is a strong candidate for the position and should proceed to the next step: a preliminary interview with human resources.
Preliminary Interview With Human Resources
The preliminary interview provides an opportunity to evaluate the technical and non-technical skills of the applicant. At this stage, technical skills are briefly evaluated, given that the HR Manager is conducting the interview alone. Non-technical skills, however, are more thoroughly evaluated.
The files of all applicants who’ve interviewed with the HR Manager are put into GENIVAR’s candidate database.
Business Division Interview – Division Manager
The files of applicants who are still under consideration following the preliminary interview are transferred to the relevant Division Manager. The Division Manager conducts interviews alone, with a managerial colleague or a subordinate. At this stage, technical skills are very thoroughly evaluated. Customized testing pertinent to the position may also be administered.
With rare exceptions, the preliminary interview always precedes the interview with the Division Manager. However, upon request of the Division Manager or for other reasons deemed appropriate, the HR Manager may schedule the preliminary interview and the Division interview for the same time.
Conclusion of Process: A Decision is Made
The HR Manager is the intermediary between the applicant and GENIVAR during the final phase of the recruitment process, which is when a decision is made.
The HR Manager, other human resources personnel, and the Division Manager together assess the applicant’s file before making a final decision. After discussions are complete, the HR Manager will advise the applicant, by telephone, of either a forthcoming offer of employment (given within 24 hours) or that consideration for employment has been discontinued.
